Firefighters Tackle Agricultural Fire on Meon Road, Fareham
Update (7:30pm): Meon Road fire, Fareham
The fire is now out following the hard work of around 40 firefighters.
The incident began with a fire involving a combine harvester, which initially spread to one field. As the incident developed, the fire spread into a second field, with the total area affected growing to approximately 30 hectares of standing crop.
Crews used multiple hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze, while farm machinery was used to create fire breaks and help stop the fire from spreading further.

Initial incident update (5:30pm):Meon Road fire, Fareham
Road closures are in place on Meon Road, Fareham, while firefighters tackle a large fire involving agricultural machinery.
The blaze has affected approximately seven hectares of standing crop.
Fire Control received multiple emergency calls shortly before 5pm this evening, prompting a significant response from crews across Hampshire.
Firefighters have now surrounded the fire and are working to fully extinguish remaining hotspots and prevent further spread. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area while emergency services remain at the scene. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is assisting with traffic management due to the number of emergency vehicles in attendance.
Fire engines from Fareham, Gosport, Portchester, Wickham and Cosham are at the scene, supported by specialist vehicles and crews from Eastleigh, Havant, Lyndhurst, Hardley, Beaulieu and Andover, as well as the Incident Command Unit from Service Headquarters.
