Firefighters tackle outdoor fire in Awbridge
Fire crews have spent the day (14 June) tackling a fire outdoors in Awbridge, Old Salisbury Lane.
Approximately one hectare of undergrowth and Rhododendron bushes were alight. The site of the fire was deep into the woods and difficult to access which meant significant manpower was required.
There were 8 fire engines, 2 water carriers and 1 Landrover and around 60 firefighters on site during the height of the incident.
Firefighters were able to successfully create a fire break, surround the fire and extinguish it using jets and multiple small tools.
The initial call came in at 09.16 and the stop message at 20:00, with four fire engines remaining on site for around a further two hours to damp down the area.
Re-inspection of the site is to take place at 06:30 on 15 June.
