Firefighters tackle large wildfire at Eversley Common

Firefighters extinguished a large fire involving one hectare of gorse on Eversley Common this morning.

Crews from Alresford, Eastleigh, Basingstoke, Portchester, Bordon, Andover and Rushmoor were called at around half seven, alongside colleagues from neighbouring counties and an Incident Command Unit. 

Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters began returning to station at around 11am, with reinspections planned in throughout this afternoon to ensure there are no remaining embers burning.
