Firefighters tackle hay stack fire near Andover

Firefighters remain on the scene of a hay stack fire in Goodworth Clatford near Andover this afternoon.
Crews from Basingstoke, Sutton Scotney and Dorset & Wiltshire FRS were alerted at around two o’clock.
Hose reel jets and beaters were used to stop the fire which had spread into the field.
Farm workers used machinery to remove hay from the vicinity to prevent the fire spreading further.
There may be smoke seen in the area as the affected hay will be allowed to burn out, but firefighters will be staying to monitor the scene, ensuring it doesn’t escalate.
