Firefighters tackle a grassland fire in Ventnor
*Update 08:45 – Wednesday 15 July*
An area measuring approximately 40m x 50m, located up a steep embankment and involving large areas of decking, a shed, trees and shrubbery, was extinguished by firefighters. The fire is believed to have been caused by a fire pit in the decking area.
A stop message was received at 1:45am this morning. Crews carried out community safety activities in the area before returning to station.
Firefighters from Ventnor returned to the scene at 7am to carry out a re-inspection and determined that no further re-inspections were required.

Whilst extinguishing the blaze, crews identified a second fire nearby involving approximately 50m x 30m of grassland, trees and shrubbery. Breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a knapsack are currently in use.
Both seats of fire are surrounded and under control.

Crews from Ryde, Shanklin and Ventnor are currently at the scene of a fire on Spring Hill, Ventnor.
Approximately 20m x 20m of decking, trees and undergrowth is alight, with firefighters using multiple hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.
The initial call was received at 8pm this evening.
