Firefighters free three dogs at risk from fast-flowing water
A trio of pooches were rescued from beneath a bridge after they had become trapped by the strong current of the river.
Juno, Forest and Arber were out for a walk with their owner near Droxford Road in Wickham when they ran under a bridge and became stuck on a concrete block, in danger of being swept away by the fast-flowing River Meon.
Firefighters from Wickham, Cosham and Fareham along with a specialist HIWFRS animal rescue advisor, were alerted shortly after half 11 this morning.
The crews used tools to remove a number of concrete slats from the bridge so that they could reach the dogs.
The firefighters were able to retrieve the animals and reunite Juno, Forest and Arber with their owner, before returning to their stations shortly after midday.
