Firefighters called to Storm Barra-related incidents
The effects of Storm Barra were felt across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight on Tuesday (7 December).
Our firefighters and Control room colleagues dealt with the following incidents during the peak hours of the storm, and also provided advice to others:
- 13:01, road traffic collision scene safety, Hook
Firefighters from Rushmoor and Basingstoke were called to Reading Road, Hook, after a lorry collided into a tree. Police closed the road while HIWFRS made the scene safe. The driver of the vehicle was handed into the care of colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service. Stop message: 13:44 - 13:49, assist from vehicle in water, Titchfield
One female and a seven-month-old baby were rescued from a vehicle in Cliff Road, Titchfield. A fire engine and the water rescue unit from Fareham provided scene safety while the Coastguard released the woman and child after they had become trapped by floodwater.
