Firefighters and vets team up to free Peppa the dog impaled on a metal pole

HIWFRS animal rescue specialists and firefighters teamed up with a local vet to save Peppa the dog after she impaled her paw on a metal rod.

Odiham and Basingstoke crews were called shortly after 5pm yesterday to a property in Hook.

The pet was sedated by the vet before firefighters used specialist tools to cut the metal before it was cooled, and Peppa was carried out and taken to the vets for further treatment.

Firefighters and the HIWFRS animal rescue officer left the scene following the stop message at 18:36.
