Fire on Brimpton Common
On Bank Holiday Monday (25 August), crews were called to a wildfire on Brimpton Common, on the Hampshire Berkshire border, shortly after 9pm.
Local residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to significant smoke in the area.
The fire, which affected approximately four hectares of gorse, trees, and scrubland, was tackled by more than 20 firefighters from Tadley, Kingsclere, and Fleet, supported by colleagues from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Crews used hose reels, jets, and 4×4 vehicles to surround and bring the fire under control.
At midnight, the stop message was confirmed and all crews left the scene. A reinspection at 7:30am the following morning identified several hotspots, which were promptly damped down. A further inspection at 6:30pm confirmed that all remaining hotspots had been extinguished, and the incident was officially closed.
Police have been informed, as it is believed the fire may have been started deliberately.

We have completed our inspection and extinguished the remaining hotspots. All crews have now returned to their stations. As a precaution, a crew will return this evening to carry out a follow-up inspection.

Crews from Tadley and Kingsclere have returned to Brimpton Common this morning to carry out a reinspection. During their checks, several hotspots were identified, and firefighters are currently damping down the affected areas.

Firefighters have now surrounded the fire at Brimpton Common on the Hampshire–Berkshire border.
The incident, which began shortly after 9pm, has affected around four hectares of gorse, trees, and shrubs. More than 20 firefighters from Tadley, Kingsclere, and Fleet, supported by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, remain on scene to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

Shortly after 9pm this evening, fire crews were called to a wildfire on Brimpton Common, located on the Hampshire–Berkshire border.
Firefighters from Tadley, Kingsclere, and Fleet stations, supported by crews from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, are currently in attendance.
The fire is affecting approximately four hectares of gorse, trees, and scrubland. Crews are making use of hose reels, jets, and 4×4 vehicles to bring the fire under control.
