Fire at Southampton industrial estate

The scene was handed over to police officers at around 1am, prior to an investigation commencing this morning.

Firefighters have returned to conduct a reinspection and have been working to dampen down remaining hotspots.

We are further scaling back our response to three fire engines, one aerial platform and a water carrier.

We have put in place a relief strategy which sees our response scaled back to seven fire engines, one aerial ladder platform plus command and support vehicles.

Crews are continuing to tackle the fire at Liner industrial estate using multiple main jets. There are three units within a row of five that are impacted by the fire. People are asked to avoid the area while we deal with this incident. Local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed.

Multiple crews are on the scene at fire involving a number of commercial/industrial units at the rear of Paynes Road Southampton.

There are currently ten fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms plus specialist and support vehicles on scene.

We ask people to avoid the area whilst emergency services deal with this incident. Residents in the area should close windows and doors.
