Fire crews tackle Andover nightclub blaze

Firefighters from Andover, Sutton Scotney, Whitchurch and Basingstoke were called to London Street in Andover just before 11:30 this morning (23 September), after reports of smoke coming from a side entrance of a nightclub. All persons were accounted for and two hose reels, one jet, aerial platform ladder and high pressure lance were used to extinguish the fire.

Andover Crew Manager Richard Howting said.

“Crews worked efficiently and were able to quickly stop the fire spreading from the exterior wooden cladded canopy walkway to the main building.

Firefighters used an ultra-high-pressure lance, which allowed them direct access to areas which would normally be difficult to react.”

The incident was handed over to the nightclub management before the stop message came in at 13:10.
