Crews work alongside farmer to tackle East Wellow grain dryer blaze
Romsey, Totton and Eastleigh crews were called to a fire that had broken out within a grain dryer at a farm in East Wellow.
The fire in the dryer unit was tackled using the aerial ladder platform as gas and temperature monitoring took place and the farmer worked to remove the grain that was in the silo.
Eight sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one jet and a dry powder extinguisher were used to stop the fire before the incident was handed over to the farmer to maintain a watching brief due to the number of hot spots remaining after the machinery was isolated and fuels removed.
Following a debrief, crews returned to their stations at 17:23.
