Crews tackle scrapyard fire into Friday night

A blaze erupted at Southampton docks on Friday evening, involving a substantial amount of material including 1500 tonnes of scrap metal and various waste materials. Responding swiftly to the incident, 13 fire crews from across the service converged at the scene, joining forces with the port authority tug and onsite crane to combat the fire. Employing compressed air foams solution and six jets, the teams worked diligently to contain the fire, utilising the combined power of these firefighting measures to minimise its spread.

This allowed the teams to gain control over the blaze, preventing its further escalation with the stop message coming in at 00:46.
