Crews tackle house fire in Eastleigh

Crews from Eastleigh, Southsea, St Mary’s and SHQ tackled a house fire on Passfield Avenue in Eastleigh.

Upon arrival firefighters found smoke and flames issuing from the roof of the terraced home and police colleagues quickly closed the road to allow access for emergency vehicles.

The fire is believed to have started in a ground floor kitchen and spread to the first floor and the roof of the property.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus used jets and hoses to extinguish the fire before ventilation fans cleared the smoke.

HIWFRS delivered fire safety messaging to neighbouring properties before returning to station at 17:51.
