Crews tackle fire at Southampton fish and chip shop
Firefighters from across Southampton were called to a fire involving a deep fat fryer within a fish and chip shop on Portswood Road at 11:48.
Crews from St Mary’s, Redbridge and Hightown used two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel, two main jets and ventilation fans to extinguish the blaze and clear smoke.
Portswood Road was closed for a short time to allow access for emergency vehicles.
HIWFRS remained on the scene for a short while following the stop message at 12:15, to deliver community safety messaging to the flats above the shop.
