Closed door limits fire spread following Fleet cooking blaze

A closed door prevented further damage to a property in Fleet after a kitchen fire led to a call out for Fleet, Rushmoor, Yateley and Surrey crews.

Around 25 firefighters were called to the first-floor flat fire on St Michael’s Close at 3pm yesterday afternoon.

Flames were reported to be coming out of the front of the building before HIWFRS arrived.

Crews tackled the kitchen blaze with firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hose reel jets and ventilation fans.

Firefighters conducted Safe and Well visits at neighbouring properties and checked for smoke before returning to station at 4pm.
