Chineham shed fire spreads to nearby house roof
A shed fire in Chineham spread to the roof of a nearby property yesterday evening.
Crews from Basingstoke, Odiham and Tadley were alerted at around half eight to the blaze on Foxs Furlong.
Fortunately there were no casualties involved with the fire believed to have been started accidentally.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used hose reels and jets to stop the blaze before cutting away and damping down to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
Ventilation fans were used to clear smoke.
The roof and first-floor of the building was destroyed by fire and water.
The incident was scaled down following the stop message at around half 10, before HIWFRS delivered community safety materials to a number of properties.
One crew is set to return to the scene this morning to conduct a reinspection, checking for remaining hotspots.
