The Building Risk Review (BRR) Programme was launched by the Fire Protection Board as part of Fire and Rescue Services’ ongoing national work to understand and help reduce the fire risk in high-rise residential buildings.
The programme, supported by Government funding, aims to meet the ambition set out by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to, ‘significantly increase the pace of inspection activity across high rise residential and other high-risk buildings.’
Following the first step in the national BRR Programme, which covered the inspection of ACM clad high-rise residential buildings in England, phase two is now underway.
Phase two of the programme will involve inspections of all high-rise residential buildings (18 Metres and above in height) in England which were not already covered as part of phase one of the BRR exercise.
Using a combination of triage, inspections and desktop audits our High-Risk Residential Inspection team will now inspect all buildings within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight that meet these criteria.
We are committed to ensuring the safety of all residents across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and phase two of the BRR programme will help us to better achieve this, by highlighting any room for improvements.
This exercise will be completed before December 2021, but regular progress updates will be shared on our website and social channels throughout the course of the programme.
Living in a high-rise block doesn’t mean residents are more at risk from fire but as with any home, it’s vital to know and plan an escape in the event of a fire.
If a fire occurred in your flat or block would you know what to do?
