We are pleased to announce that Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service’s (HIWFRS) PAS (Primary Authority) team in partnership with NatWest Group have been highly commended in this year’s OPSS (Office for Product Safety and Standards) Regulatory Excellence Awards.
The team’s success in the Primary Authority category was announced during a virtual awards ceremony. The joint achievement was based on the successful partnership piece of work the PAS team did to support the NatWest Group in updating their national evacuation strategy.
Flexible working arrangements and Covid-19 meant that the NatWest Group was finding it challenging to maintain sufficient numbers to cover the fire marshal roles across their sites. Following a robust and reliable review, the PAS team advised moving from a named fire marshal programme to a new last person tag system in response to an increase in the number of employees working from home during the pandemic.
HIWFRS’ Partnerships and Strategic Inspections Manager, Dean Dixon, said:
“We’re delighted to have received the highly commended accolade for our partnership work around updating NatWest Group’s evacuation strategy in the Primary Authority category at this year’s OPSS Regulatory Excellence Awards.
“We hope that this successful partnership piece of working demonstrates to others how the PAS scheme can help to influence fire safety, even on a global scale.”
