Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Cadets have been busy fundraising for local charities. From car washes to sponsored walks, they’ve all gone the extra mile to support their local community.

Rushmoor Fire Cadets raised £325 through various projects to support local charity of their choice, The Autism Trust UK. The Autism Trust UK is a training centre delivering bespoke work training for adults with autism.

Lorraine Wood from The Autism Trust said:

“We were so honoured that The Autism Trust was chosen by the Fire Cadets. It was so nice to hear from Crew Managers Aimee and Josh about why they chose to fundraise for our charity.”

Collectively the Sandown Fire Cadets also raised just over £500 but have not yet presented it to their charity of choice.

Southsea Fire Cadets raised money for MAKE trust in Portsmouth and raised just over £300. MAKE, in Fratton, Portsmouth is an innovative project supporting adults with learning disabilities and / or autism to develop skills within a variety of areas, to enable people to lead independent lives and gain employment within the community.

They also helped out at Southsea fire station car wash, where a grand total of £1,000 was raised for local charity Enable Ability.  They are an independent charity for care, welfare and advancement of disabled people in Portsmouth and the surrounding area.

All events were organised by Fire Cadet Lead Alex Hamilton who said:
