The trainees were assessed by our trainers at our Eastleigh Headquarters. They were tested on their pump and ladder skills and will now be alerted to incidents via a pager, responding to their nearby station to jump on the fire engine.

Station Manager for Learning and Development, Lee Wood said:
“Our ten brand-new firefighters demonstrated an excellent attitude from day one of the course.
“Putting in a tremendous amount of effort, the group worked as a team and displayed great enthusiasm throughout their time with us, which will put them in good stead for their career as firefighters.
“Without the support of their families and employers, our on-call firefighters couldn’t perform this valuable role for their local areas.
“Dedicated to protecting their community, this group are now looking forward to returning to their stations across Hampshire and Isle of Wight where they will continue to progress further with their training and development.”
On-call firefighters train in a number of modules during their development, attend a weekly drill night and make themselves available for agreed hours around jobs, family responsibilities and other commitments.
The firefighters come from across the county and from all walks of life.
Several employers support their staff in this to serve the community and benefit from the skills and training that their personnel acquire.
Congratulations to the following firefighters who will now return to their local fire station and communities, where they will help respond to incidents and continue their firefighter development:
