Members from the latest HIWFRS Prince’s Trust teams have been busy supporting their local community over the last few weeks with two refurbishment projects.
Team Basingstoke 39 put their new teamwork skills to the test by refurbishing the Starling Preschool’s play area in Basingstoke as part of their community project.
During the project, the team brought life back to the space, repairing a sand pit and creating a water wall, as well as decorating the play area with planters and replacing a blackboard.
The team raised funds for the community project in early February through a 10km fancy-dress walk through Basingstoke town centre which raised over £400. The local Wickes store also donated £200 worth of construction materials and equipment to support the local project.
HIWFRS Princes Trust Team Leader Sophie Traynor said:
“Team Basingstoke 39 have had a fantastic two weeks putting in hard work and dedication towards their community project at Starlings Pre School. They battled through the wind and rain and came out with some fantastic achievements which the school was so pleased with. They did a fantastic job raising over £400 for the project too – we are really proud of them!”
The team were able to do the work thanks to the generous donations they received while fundraising for the project. The team raised £680 to support the project by completing a 9-mile sponsored walk on the 8 February.
Through the two weeks of community project, both teams grew closer together and built up their confidence and they are proud of their hard work.
