Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service
Firefighters from Gosport Fire Station were called to a flat on Durham Street at 2:28 on Saturday morning (1 Jan).
The fire was out on arrival but sadly a man was found deceased at the scene.
The Gosport crew returned to station at 4:28, after the incident was handed over to Hampshire Constabulary partners.
A joint fire and police investigation is now underway.
