Man found dead following Bishopstoke house fire

A man has been found dead following a house fire in Bishopstoke.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the property in Escombe Road at 6.51am today (July 8) and informed by the caller that a person was believed to be inside.

Three engines from Eastleigh and St Mary’s, and a support vehicle attended and used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and tactical ventilation to extinguish the fire on the first floor of the terraced house.

The stop message was received at 8.15am.

Area Manager Howard Watts said:

“Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

“Anyone who sees or detects any sign of fire should raise the alarm and call 999 immediately.”
