The group were assessed by the Learning and Development trainers at our Eastleigh headquarters.

They were tested on their pump and ladder skills, and will continue their firefighter development with their stations ahead of future courses with the L&D team to further enhance their skills.

Station Manager Lacey Plumbley said:

“From the very beginning of their course, our six brand-new firefighters demonstrated an excellent attitude and respect for everyone.

“Working as a team, they put in a tremendous amount of effort, displaying great enthusiasm throughout their time with us.

Our on-call firefighters couldn’t perform this valuable role for their local areas without the support of their families and employers, they are truly dedicated to protecting their community – thank you!

“They are now looking forward to joining their stations across Hampshire and Isle of Wight where they will continue to progress further with their training and development.”

The firefighters come from across the county and from all walks of life. They are alerted to incidents via a pager, responding to their nearby station to jump on the fire engine.
