Working smoke alarm alerts Gosport family to fire in their bungalow
A working smoke alarm alerted a Gosport couple to a fire in their bungalow on Friday evening, before escaping with the help of a neighbour.
Crews from Gosport and Fareham were called at around half eight to the property on Halsey Close.
The fire involving the fuse box in the kitchen was extinguished by firefighters in breathing apparatus using hose reels before clearing smoke from the property with ventilation fans.
The power company were called to the scene to isolate the electricity supply to the bungalow, which suffered significant fire and smoke damage.
Crews cut away and dampened down in the kitchen before conducting community safety activities at neighbouring addresses.
HIWFRS left the scene shortly after 10pm.
