Woman rescued following kitchen fire in Andover

A member of the public rescued a woman from a flat fire at a property in Andover yesterday morning.

Crews from Andover and DWFRS were alerted shortly after 11am to the incident on Poppy Close.

A member of the public was able to reach the woman and lead her to safety before firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to stop the blaze.

Ventilation fans were used to clear smoke from the premises before HIWFRS returned to station following the stop message at 12:15.
