Woman led to safety by firefighters following Freshwater kitchen fire
A woman was assisted from her home by firefighters after a pan left on the hob led to a kitchen fire in Freshwater.
Hearing a sounding smoke alarm, neighbours dialled 999 shortly before 9pm.
Crews from Freshwater and Newport arrived to find smoke coming from the house in Guyers Road.
They wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to put the fire out and a ventilation fan to clear smoke.
The woman was given immediate emergency care by crews and handed to paramedics.
