Two lanes of M3 closed due to multi-vehicle fire
Firefighters from Basingstoke and Tadley were called to a fire involving a tow truck and two other vehicles on the M3 northbound at 10:15 on Thursday (23 September).
Multiple calls were received by Control and Police closed two lanes of the motorway between junctions six and five.
Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, one dry powder extinguisher, one hose reel jet and one foam jet to put the fire out.
One recovery truck, a car and a transit flatbed lorry were involved.
The stop message was received at 11:22 and crews stayed to dampen down and make the scene safe before handing over to the Highways Agency and leaving.
