Portsmouth firefighters tackle blaze in derelict pub

Crews from Southsea and Cosham fire stations were called at 16:06 yesterday afternoon after smoke was spotted from the first-floor of a derelict building on Milton Road, Portsmouth.

Smoke was issuing upon the arrival of crews who requested police to attend to manage the traffic.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets used hose reels, jets, the aerial ladder and ventilation fans to stop the fire and clear smoke.

Fire investigation officers will return to the scene to ascertain a cause.

Crews returned to station following the stop message at 17:09.
