Portsmouth firefighters battle blaze involving three outbuildings
Portsmouth crews were called to an outbuilding blaze in the city yesterday afternoon.
Crews from Portchester, Cosham and Southsea were alerted at 12:40 following reports of a fire to the rear of a property on Bridges Avenue in Paulsgrove.
More than 19 emergency calls were received by the HIWFRS Control Room reporting the blaze.
The fire involving an outbuilding spread to two further buildings and a tree.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used jets and hose reels to extinguish the fire.
Police were informed due to smoke drifting across the M27.
Crews dampened down and delivered community safety messaging to neighbouring properties.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental.
The stop message came in at around 4pm, with one crew returning later in the evening to conduct a reinspection and extinguish remaining hotspots.
