Large Fire in the Open – Aldershot

14:28 Crews from Hampshire and Surrey are currently tackling a large fire in the open in Aldershot (Off Bourley Road).

Smoke can be seen from some distance and we are receiving a large volume of calls into our control room. 

15:38 Residents are asked to avoid the Jubilee Hill and Long Valley areas and to be aware that there will be significant movements of our vehicles in the area while we continue to deal with this incident

19:44 Firefighters from across Hampshire and Surrey have tackled a large outdoor fire off Bourley Road, Aldershot.

Crews were called shortly before midday and used jets to contain and extinguish the fire that involved approximately 10 hectares of heathland and gorse.

Eight fire engines plus additional specialist vehicles were involved at the height of the incident

Crews remain on scene dampening down the area
