Large building fire sees early morning call out for Hampshire and Wiltshire crews
More than ten emergency calls alerted the HIWFRS Control Room to a building blaze at a farm in Penton Mewsey overnight.
Crews from across Hampshire and Wiltshire were called out shortly after 2am, arriving to find several commercial units, containing various vehicles, chemicals and cylinders, involved in a significant fire.
Firefighters from Andover, Sutton Scotney, Winchester, St Mary’s, Basingstoke, Overton and DWFRS were joined by support vehicles from Eastleigh and Rushmoor, including water carriers as well as the aerial ladder platform.
Teams have been using jets, hose reels and compressed air foam solution to dowse the flames and extinguish the fire.
The incident has now been scaled down with relief crews from Fareham, Whitchurch, Alton and Fordingbridge attending to take over from the firefighters who were first on the scene.
The majority of the units were destroyed in the blaze.
The stop message came in shortly before midday, but crews remain on the scene damping down.
