Hay, straw and animal feed destroyed in New Forest barn blaze

Crews were called to the New Forest after a large barn fire in Cadnam on 21 March.

Fire engines from Redbridge, Eastleigh, Romsey, Lymington and Hightown, plus the water carrier from Ringwood, a command support vehicle from Beaulieu and the Incident Command Unit, attended a farm in Kewlake Lane following the call shortly before midday. A water carrier from Dorset and Wiltshire FRS was also in attendance.

Firefighters used CAFS and jets to tackle the fire before the incident was scaled down to two pumps at just after 15:00.

The barn contained hay, straw and animal feed. No livestock were involved.

The stop message was received at 18:12 with the incident handed over to the farm owner and the fire left as a controlled burn. A reinspection took place later that evening.
