Hampshire and Surrey crews stop bungalow blaze in Alton

Crews from Alton, Basingstoke, Alresford and Surrey were called shortly after 5pm to a bungalow on Medstead Road.

The fire destroyed a chalet attached to the property and caused significant smoke damage throughout.

Crews used 16 sets of breathing apparatus, three jets and hose reels to stop the blaze before clearing smoke with ventilation fans.

Firefighters dampened down the scene before scaling the incident back, with the stop message coming in shortly before 8pm.

HIWFRS remain on the scene with the road hoping to be reopened at around 9pm.
