Gosport bin shed fire will now be investigated

Multiple 999 calls were received following a fire in the bin shed at a block of flats.

Crews from Gosport, Fareham and Cosham, plus a command support vehicle from Portchester, were called to Blanchard Avenue, Gosport at 18:11 on Monday (7 February).

The bin shed was well alight, with the fire spreading to a car.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reels and one main jet to put the fire out.

Windows of some flats on the first and second floors also suffered heat damage.

Police were called and a fire investigation will now take place.

The stop message was received at 19:36.
