Firefighters Tackle Garage Blaze Caused by Lithium Battery in Basingstoke

Firefighters from Basingstoke, Winchester and St Mary’s attended a fire in a detached garage at a property on The Limes, Basingstoke, at approximately 4:30pm.

Crews used two hose reel and jets to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a lithium battery in a golf caddy.

Firefighters will return to the scene later this evening to carry out a reinspection and check for any remaining hotspots.

A home fire safety visit has been arranged for tomorrow morning with the occupant of the property.
