Firefighters tackle blaze at Shirrell Heath stable block

A stable block and a static caravan were destroyed by fire after a blaze broke out in Shirrell Heath, near Wickham, on Saturday night (28 January).

Sadly, two horses died as a result of the fire at a farm off Hospital Road.

Fire crews from Wickham, Bishop’s Waltham, Droxford, Fareham and Eastleigh were mobilised by Fire Control at 19:10.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used water jets to put the fire out. Crews also cooled and monitored an acetylne cylinder.

The stop message was received shortly before 22:30.
