Firefighters Respond to Early Morning Fire in Romsey
Firefighters were called at 2:45am on Sunday, February 23, to a fire in a historic building on Church Street in Romsey.
Police arrived on the scene to manage traffic while six fire engines, an aerial platform ladder, and multiple support vehicles were dispatched. Due to the scale of the emergency response, the road was temporarily closed.
Firefighters tackled the blaze in the basement using two jets and two hose reels before deploying ventilation fans to clear the smoke. By 8am, crews confirmed the fire was fully extinguished, with no remaining hotspots.
Early investigations suggest the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
