Firefighters called to bungalow roof blaze in Hedge End

Crews were called shortly after half 11 this morning to a bungalow on Hobb Lane where smoke was issuing from the roof.

Engines from Hightown, Botley, St Mary’s and Eastleigh, along with the aerial ladder platform were quickly on the scene.

The gas and electric supply to the property was quickly isolated as HIWFRS began extinguishing the blaze using five jets, two hose reels, 10 sets of breathing apparatus worn by firefighters and ventilation fans to clear smoke.

The crews remained on the scene to dampen down hotspots, deliver community safety leaflets and conduct Safe & Well visits at neighbouring houses.

Firefighters returned to station following the stop message at 13:31.
