Electric fan heater suspected cause of New Forest flat blaze

On-call firefighters from Lymington, Brockenhurst and New Milton were alerted to a first-floor flat blaze on St Thomas Street in Lymington at 4am.

All occupants had evacuated the building prior to the arrival of HIWFRS.

Crews worked to silence the alarm and isolate the gas and electric supply before firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters left the scene at around 7am before returning later in the morning to conduct a reinspection and deliver community safety materials to neighbouring properties.
