Dogs rescued from smoke-logged house in Andover
Firefighters rescued two dogs from a house after a fire broke out in the living room.
Crews from Andover and Whitchurch were called to Tollgate Road, Andover, at 12:04 today (Monday 15 November).
Smoke could be seen coming from the ground floor of a detached house and firefighters wore breathing apparatus to enter as soon as they arrived.
Firefighters Josh Hammett and Steve Whitby quickly found the two spaniels in the smoke-logged property and carried them to safety.
A hose reel was used to put the fire out and a ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke.
One female was treated by firefighters for smoke inhalation before she was handed into the care of paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been an unattended candle.
Andover Crew Manager, James Street, said: “My team worked really hard and were able to find the dogs and pick them up. They were then taken to a vet by a family member.
“Please always ensure candles are out.”
