Crews prevent chimney fire from spreading to Winchester pub’s roof
More than 20 firefighters attended a chimney fire at a pub in Kingsgate Street, Winchester, on Tuesday night (11 Oct).
The call came in at just after 5.30pm and crews from Winchester, St Mary’s, Redbridge and Eastleigh were on scene.
The fire was hard to reach but swift work prevented it from spreading to the roof of the pub. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera for monitoring and one hose reel to put the fire out.
The stop message was received at around 7.20pm and a further reinspection was carried out at 9.30pm, with the incident then handed over to the pub manager.
