Crews extinguish electrical fire in church roof

Smoke was reported from a church roof shortly before 9am with crews from Hampshire and DWFRS investigating to find a fire within an electrical consumer unit.

Firefighters from Andover, Winchester and DWFRS alongside the Basingstoke aerial ladder were called to the scene on Weyhill Road at 8:42.

The blaze was extinguished by firefighters in breathing apparatus using hoses, jets before the crews then checked for any fire spread and dampened down.

Firefighters helped to ventilate the building to clear residual smoke as they waited for the electricity board to attend and isolate the power.

The stop message came in at 11:14.
