Bin fire spreads to Horndean property

The HIWFRS Control Room received multiple calls reporting a blaze which spread from a wheelie bin to a wooden fence, before spreading to a home in Horndean.

Crews from Cosham and Havant were alerted at around midday on Saturday.

The blaze had affected the gas meter and the main electricity supply so the relevant utility companies were requested to attend.

The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet before the crews conducted home fire safety visits and delivered community safety materials to neighbouring properties.

HIWFRS left the scene at returned to station at around half one.
