Shed fire spreads to house in Bitterne Road West, Southampton

Southampton firefighters were called to a shed fire which spread to the roof of a semi-detached property on Bitterne Road West.

Crews from Hightown and St Mary’s used the aerial ladder platform, breathing apparatus, hose reels, jets and ventilation fans to extinguish the fire and clear smoke.

The road was closed while crews worked and the stop message was received at 16:02.

One crew returned in the night to conduct a reinspection to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.

A police investigation will take place to try and establish a cause.
