The HMICFRS values and culture spotlight review has been published here Values and culture in fire and rescue services – His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) – Home (justiceinspectorates.gov.uk). The report focuses on the values and culture of all 44 fire and rescue services (FRSs) in England and draws on the evidence collected through their inspections of FRSs since 2018.

Neil Odin,  Chief Officer of Hampshire and IOW Fire and Rescue Service, said:

“While the report is a difficult read, we hope it will act as a driver for positive change across all fire services. Many of the recommendations compliment work we are already undertaking. We are also planning an independent cultural review to ask our staff what the current cultural challenges are within the workplace. We hope this will help us to further understand any issues within our own service that we need to address.

“We want our staff to know it is safe to speak out and they will be listened to and supported. Discrimination, bullying and harassment will not be tolerated, and we all have a duty to uphold our values.”
