Hampshire and Berkshire firefighters were called to a house fire in Kingsclere on Tuesday (15 Feb) morning at 11:15.
Firefighters from Kingsclere, Basingstoke, Tadley, Fleet, Whitchurch and Sutton Scotney were assisted by RBFRS crews from Newbury.
Smoke was issuing from the property which was well alight upon arrival.
The body was found inside the address and they were confirmed dead at the scene.
Police and ambulance colleagues were also in attendance.
The fire was extinguished using eight sets of breathing apparatus, three jets and two hose reels, with the aerial ladder platform also utilised to contain the blaze to the two-storey property.
A joint police and fire investigation will now take place to establish the cause.
Following the incident HIWFRS visited nearby properties to deliver safety messages and leaflets.
Firefighters left following the stop message at 16:10 before one crew returned to the scene in the evening to conduct a reinspection and extinguish any hotspots.
