We’ve been spreading festive cheer across communities throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

On Friday evening (5 Dec), our dedicated Fire Cadets proudly assisted at the Joint Emergency Services Carol Service held at Winchester Cathedral. Their contribution helped ensure the smooth running of this special annual event, bringing together emergency services personnel and the public for an evening of reflection and celebration. The Beat 44 choir, made up of members of blue-light services, performed a number of carols.

The festive spirit continued on Saturday as our teams welcomed the crowds to the hugely popular Wight Brainy Bunch Christmas Market at Ryde Fire Station. With more than 25 stalls, seasonal treats, Santa’s grotto, live music, and the much-anticipated Christmas lights switch-on, the annual event drew large crowds and a wonderful community atmosphere.

We hosted the annual Southsea Young Carers Christmas Party, welcoming 50 incredible young carers for a festive day of fun. Firefighters gave station tours, served a festive lunch, and handed out gifts, before accompanying the young carers and their guardians to the Kings Theatre for the pantomime – an experience we were proud to help make possible.

On Tuesday evening, St Mary’s firefighters once again joined the Love Christmas appeal to help pack gift bags for people in Southampton who might otherwise go without this Christmas.

Together they packed around 200 bags — a big step towards the 1,600 being prepared with our community partners.

The organisers said, “A huge thanks to St. Marys White Watch for giving their time and energy. Your kindness is making a real difference this festive season.”

Our teams are busy preparing even more events to support our community, starting with Tadley’s senior citizens Christmas lunch on 13th December, before Southsea’s 43rd annual senior citizens show at the Portsmouth Guildhall in January.

A Season of Community Spirit

These events highlight the strong community values at the heart of what we do. From supporting young carers to engaging with residents and local charities, our staff and volunteers continue to demonstrate their commitment to serving and supporting the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

A huge thank-you to everyone who attended, supported, or helped bring these events to life. Your enthusiasm and community spirit make occasions like these truly special.
