The ceremony remembers the First World War field hospital that was situated in the village and treated New Zealand and Indian soldiers.
The New Zealand Deputy High Commissioner, Guergana Guermanoff, was in attendance along with members of the Australian and New Zealand military.

Firefighter at Brockenhurst and veteran, Richard Connelly, who lay the HIWFRS wreath, said:
“It’s important that we remember these men who had travelled from the other side of the world to give their lives.
“The cemetery here in Brockenhurst is a permanent reminder of the impact they made, and it’s important as local on-call firefighters we join our community at this annual remembrance service to show our respects.”

Richard was joined by Brockenhurst crew members Josh, who is from Australia and Tara who also represents the local scouts group.
Our teams enjoy getting out and meeting local residents, attending nearby events which sit at the heart of their communities.
On-call firefighters live and work near to the fire station they respond to, balancing their work and personal lives around their on-call responsibilities.
